Source: NHMS 2023 — 15.6% of MY adults have diabetes (up from 13.4% in 2019). Add 3.6M pre-diabetic and you have 7.5M Malaysian adults in the condition-bracket, of whom roughly 2.0M are Chinese-Malaysian (the CN-forward audience Rasaya targets).

Total addressable market is colossal. Brand penetration is zero.

*Pinxin and Mirra are GAIA sister-brands, not market competitors. Yolo is the closest functional-meal contender, but its 4-plan menu has zero positioning for diabetes / cholesterol / heart / stroke recovery. The condition lane is literally unoccupied by anyone selling food daily.

Distributed across Watsons (550+ stores), Caring Pharmacy, Guardian (600+), BIG Pharmacy. Triple Care Vanilla 800g ≈ RM150-180.

Copy: "Slow-release carbohydrate system, low GI, complete and balanced nutrition with 28 vitamins & minerals for people with diabetes."

Why it's not a meal competitor: caretakers layer Glucerna ON TOP of regular meals. It's a supplement, not a substitute. Compliance fatigue is real — the powder + water ritual gets skipped after 2 weeks.

Implication for Rasaya: pharmacy aisle endorsement is an open route. Glucerna has the trust signal Rasaya needs (Abbott, low-GI, 28 vitamins). Position Rasaya as the actual meal alongside the powder.

Adjacent functional-nutrition tin

Ensure = post-surgery / elder protein nutrition. Anlene = bone + heart plus. Both occupy "powder/drink" shelf, not "food" shelf.

Caretaker behaviour: 73% buy at least one functional-nutrition powder for the diabetic parent (Unverified — directional XHS / FB community signal). None of them are eating it AS a meal.

Untapped: Caring Pharmacy is the highest-trust pharmacy chain for Chinese-Malaysian audience. No meal brand has ever cross-promoted in the diabetic-nutrition aisle.

2. Mr DIY / Mass copy — RM15 mass diabetic-bento competition is technically possible. Rasaya's defence = brand-DNA + dietitian-design provenance + sanchu-grade ingredients story.

3. Pharma counterclaim — Abbott/Nestle (Glucerna/Boost) could partner with a local kitchen to launch their own diabetic-meal line. Defence = brand DNA + 100K-loyal ICP head-start.
